U14 Boys Football

On the 24th of February our U14 boys football team took on Wexford CBS in Heywood Co Laois in the Leinster semi-final. We won this exciting game by a score of 5-8 to 3-10.Well done to all the U14 boys and to their coaches Mr Larkin and Shane Kenny. Best of luck to them in the Leinster final.

Ladies Football

On the 27th our U14 Ladies Football team played Scoil Mhuire Longford. It was a great game with Mercy leading at half time, but Scoil Mhuire came back to win by a point at the final whistle. Thanks to the coaches Ms Mc Carron and Ms Mc Govern and the TY Future Leaders.

Senior Ladies Football

Congratulations to our Senior Ladies football team who were crowned Leinster Champions last week following an outstanding performance against St. Leo’s Carlow.  The final score was 6-13 to 3-10. Thank you to their coaches Ms. O Reilly, Mr. Seery and Mr. Bohan for training the team. Good luck to the girls as they move on to contest the All-Ireland semi-final in March.

U 14 Boys’ Football

Well done to our U14 Boys’ football team who won the replay of the North Leinster semi-final against Boyne C.C. last Friday. The boys were very disciplined in their approach and put in an excellent performance. The final score was 4-7 to 1-7. They now proceed to the final against Ardee C.C. Thanks to coaches Mr. S. Larkin and Mr. S. Kenny.

First Year Boys

Well done to our First Year Boys who had a great day out in Dunganney, Meath CoE on Tuesday 16th December they played against Moyne, Boyne CS and St. Ciaran’s Kells. Thanks to our TY Future Leaders, Mr. Shane Kenny and Mr. Larkin for training the team.

U16 Ladies football

On the 29 th our U16 Ladies football team played Moate C.S in the Leinster A semi-final. We had a strong game but Moate came out victorious in the end winning by 9 points. Thank you to all our U16 girl football players and our coaches Mr Bohan and Mr Seery.

Boys GAA
Our first year boys GAA team qualified for the Leinster final winning against Wexford CBS on a score line of 5-11 to 5-7. Final is set to be played this week, venue and time yet to be decided as we went to print. Good luck to the first year boys in the final.Thanks to coaches Mr Larkin and Mr S Kenny.

The Senior Ladies football team played Presentation Kilkenny in the Leinster semi final in Portlaoise last Thursday. The final score was 5-17 to 1-2. Well done girls and thank you to the coaches Mr. Sean Bohan, Mr. Colin Seery and Ms. Niamh McCann. They will meet St. Joseph’s Navan in the Leinster Final.

Our senior boys had a comprehensive victory in their first championship game on the 29th November, played in St Lomans Mullingar. It was a fantastic squad effort with 21 players getting valuable gametime in very windy conditions. We play Ballymahon VS in the next round of the North Leinster Championship. Full time score- Mercy Ballymahon 3-14(23) Oldcastle (St Olivers PP) 1-5 (8).

Congrats to our Senior Boys’ Football team trained by Mr. McCormack and Mr. O Gara who beat St. Olivers Oldcastle by a scoreline of 1-15-1-9. They are now through to the North Leinster final.

Hard luck to Mr. Bohan and Ms. McCann and the girls U14 football team who lost to Sacred Heart Secondary School, Tullamore in the second round of the Championship recently.

Congratulations to our U16 Girls’ football team who have qualified for the All Ireland B Final which takes place on 2nd April. They were convincing winners over Coláiste Oiriall, Monaghan in their All Ireland B Semi Final at the 3G pitch at Breffni Park last week. Thanks to their coaches Mr. Bohan and Ms. McCann.

Congratulations to our senior boys’ football team who triumphed over Kilbeggan by a point last week in the Leinster championship. They are now through to the Leinster quarter final. Thanks to their coaches Mr. O’Gara and Mr. Larkin. 

Our sports department had a very busy  week. Our U16 Girls’ football team were victorious over Scoil Mhuire, Longford. The 1st and 2nd year girls enjoyed a football blitz in Clonguish last week. They had four teams. The U14 Boys’ football team beat St.Finians, Mullingar.

Thanks to all their coaches Mr.Bohan, Ms.Egan, Mr. Munds, Ms. Carr, Mr. Dempsey, Mr.Walsh and Mr.Kenny.

Congratulations

Congratulations to our U16 girls’ football team who got off to a winning start this year with a victory against Mercy Navan in Navan last Tuesday. Thanks to their coaches Mr. Bohan and Ms. McCann.

Congratulations also to our Senior girls’ football team who beat the Bower Athlone last Wednesday. Thanks to their managers Mr. Munds and Mr. Bohan.

Congratulations to Sarah Horan, Aisling McCormack, Ciara Foxe, Muirinn Claffey, Niamh Hanley, Rebecca O Kane, Cliodhna Allen, Ciara Healy, Juileann Moran, Petrina Carrigy, Áine Bannon and Dearbhaile Rooney who were part of the Longford Ladies under 16 football team who won the All Ireland C championship recently. We are proud to see Ms. McCann and last year’s U16 Girls, who were All Ireland finalists, featuring in the Lidl advert on television.

We wish the U16 and senior boys’ football teams good luck in the year ahead as they have resumed training. Thanks to their coaches Mr. Seery, Mr. O Gara and Mr. Mc. Cormack.
