LGFA/GAA

Congratulations to our senior LGFA players and their coaches Ms Curley and Ms Colgan after an impressive win over Meán Scoil Mhuire last week. Our senior ladies have now topped the group and progress to the Leinster semi- final. Meanwhile, hard luck to our Senior boys GAA team who exited the championship on points difference after being defeated by Mercy Kilbeggan last week. 

Soccer

Hard luck to our U15 boys soccer team who had an unlucky 6-5 defeat against Wilson's Hospital last week.  Well done to our senior boys soccer team who had a 6-1 victory against Roscommon CBS on Friday last. Thank you to coaches Ms Quinn and Ms Noone.

Basketball

Hard luck to the U19 girls basketball team who lost in the semi-final to a strong Portlaoise team. Well done to the girls and their coaches Ms Mc Manus and Ms Lynch for their hard work this year. 

College Awareness Week

Last week we celebrated College Awareness Week 2022. Well done to our Guidance team of Ms O’Neill and Ms Walshe who put together a busy schedule of talks and activities for students. Thank you also to all speakers from TUD, ATU, NUIG, TUS and LMETB who gave informative talks to our students in relation to various 3rd level options.

Comórtas díospóireachta

Well done to 3rd year students Orla Manning, Jude Harnett Assiaw and Sarah Maguire as well as 5th year students Ruadhán Killian, Aisling Lane and Shauna Maguire who travelled to Coláiste Oiriall, Monaghan, last week to participate in Gael Linn’s debating competition. Although they will not progress to the next round, the students did a fantastic job on the night. Maith sibh a chairde! Thank you also to teachers Ms Fox and Ms McGovern who accompanied the students. 

Soroptimist Competition

Congratulations to Aisling Lane who competed in the local heats of the Soroptimist  public speaking event on Wednesday 16th November. The competition was steep but Aisling did herself and the school proud. A sincere thanks to Mr Mc Givney for accompanying her on the night and also to her mentor Ms Gaffney.

Science Week 2022

As part of our activities for Science Week 2022, 6th year students Caolan Meadows, Morgan Nugent, Katrin Butusova, Eimear McDonagh, Eoin Maloney and Liam Donohoe took part in the annual ISTA Senior Science Quiz held in Athlone IT on Thursday 17th November. Over 30 teams from the North Midlands region took part in the quiz which covered Leaving Cert Biology, Chemistry and Physics topics along with general scientific knowledge. Thank you to Ms Noone for accompanying them on the night.
