Ceiliúradh Ceist
On Thursday 1st February we celebrated Ceiliúradh Ceist, an annual celebration in CEIST schools. This year, the theme of the celebration was ‘Home, School and Parish – Working together.’ A number of activities took place throughout the day which fell on the feast of St. Brigid. We welcomed staff and service users from St. Christopher’s in Longford to our school and they enjoyed making St. Brigid’s crosses with our students. Mr. Rob Halford (CEIST) also visited our school. We also marked the day with the opening of our school walkway - ‘The Mercy Way’. This walkway has been created in memory of former school principal and teacher Sr. Mary Kerrane. It was made possible by a very generous donation from Mr. Joe Kerrane, Sr. Mary’s brother, which helped towards the funding of the walkway. Sr. Mary was a very keen walker throughout her life and we feel it is a fitting tribute in her memory. Joe’s wife Monica and nephew James Hamm attended the opening. Also in attendance were Ms. Teresa Fallon, Chairperson of BoM, Sisters of Mercy- Sr. Assumpta Falkner, Sr. Úna Purcell, Sr. Dympna Cassells, Sr. Maura Faye and Sr. Maura Conlan. Fr. Liam Murray blessed the walkway and Niall Dowler, who did the construction, was also present .
