Mercy Ballymahon Notes

MSS Sports

Training has kicked off for many of our sports teams. GAA training has begun for our senior boys and U14 girls while our senior boy’s basketball team also returned to the court last week. We look forward to all upcoming fixtures and thank all staff members who have volunteered to coach our teams this year.

Drug Awareness

Thank you to Sergeant Darren Conlon who visited the school on Wednesday last. Sgt Conlon facilitated an excellent Drug Awareness talk for our senior students.

TY Activities

Transition Year students are enjoying their various new modules. Thank you to Shelley Corcoran who will carry out a photography module with each class group throughout the year, Emmet Ray who is facilitating a Pilates module and Sean Donohoe who is teaching a Self-Defence module to the students. On Tuesday, all TYs had the opportunity to travel to the National Ploughing Championships. Thank you to our Agricultural Science Teacher Ms Murphy for organising.

Higher Options

This Thursday our Leaving Cert students will travel to the RDS, Dublin, for Higher Options 2022. The event will provide an opportunity for students to speak with representatives from third level institutions in Ireland and abroad.
