Academic Award

Congratulations to Leaving Certificate 2022 student Ronan Hegarty who received an Entrance Exhibition Award from Trinity College Dublin on Wednesday March 1st. We extend our congratulations to Ronan’s parents Maura and Michael on this outstanding achievement.

LGFA

Well done to our U14 girls’ team who had an excellent victory against St. Joseph’s SS Rochfortbridge at Kinnegad GAA grounds on Thursday last. After a great display, they came away with a huge win against a very competitive Rochfortbridge side. Well done also to their coaches Ms Duffy and Ms Gilleran.

GAA

Well done to our senior boys who had a comprehensive victory over Killina SS last week. Meanwhile, our U14 boys had an excellent win against Cnoc Mhuire Granard on Friday last in the Brother Hubert Cup. Thank you to Mr Kenny and Mr Jones who are training both sides.

Basketball

Well done to our first and second year girls’ basketball teams who both won against Tullamore last week. 1st years won with a close score of 27-23 and 2nd years had an outstanding win with a score of 30-10. Thank you to coaches Ms McManus and Ms Lynch. Well done also to our first and second year boys who had their last league game of the midlands group. 1st years lost out to a very strong St Mel’s College side. 2nd years had yet another exciting finish, winning in overtime on a scoreline of 29-25. Thank you to coaches Mr McGivney and Mr Guerin.

Guidance

Our 6th year students enjoyed an informative talk from Cavan Institute last week learning about the importance of applying for Fetch Courses. These courses offer qualifications within the year and provide alternative routes to Law, Teaching, Veterinary, Nursing Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy etc. Thank you to our guidance department for organising.

TY Activities

Last week all TY classes had a “Law Day”. 4 barristers visited the school and students engaged in a full day workshop about how our legal system works and also participated in Mock Trials.Two TY groups also went on a photography trip to Newcastle woods on Thursday. This week, all students are attending a coaching session in the new athletics building in Longford with Longford Sports Partnership.
